The Director of Product Management will assist the VP of Product Line in meeting the strategic goals of the Business Unit from planning, organizing, leading, controlling and coordinating the provisions of services in the area of product line management.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult with managers and peers as appropriate to develop short and long-term goals.
  • Develops, secures approval and administers an operating budget and revenue based on goals and approved plans.
  • Responsible for the Profits and Losses of the product line.
  • Responsible for the provision of services in the area of product administration.
  • Primary business liaison for the product business for Operations, Sales and IT.
  • Responsible for the coordination, including development, implementation, documentation, and monitoring, of product services with operations and information technology areas.
  • Coordinates resolution of issues regarding product administration. These issues may be related to internal operations, IT, clients and prospective clients.
  • Serves as liaison with other organizational components; establishes and maintains the working rapport necessary to develop cooperation and effectively integrate area services into the company's overall business fulfillment system.
  • Remains abreast of industry developments in the field of mortgage, lending, insurance, servicing and origination by pursuing a program of self development, participating in professional organizations, interacting with peers, reviewing pertinent literature, and so forth. Incorporates advancements when feasible and cost effective.
  • Directs the preparation or prepares records as well as recurring and special reports and analyses for area of responsibility ensuring that they are complete, accurate and prepared on time. Reviews and interprets these in order to ascertain the extent to which goals are being attained and takes corrective action as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and standards.
  • Speaks at and represents Assurant on boards, panels and other related events with various specific trade conferences and organizations promoting best practices and Assurant products and services.

Qualifications

Required skills/experience
  • MBA degree plus 4plus years within a business function role, for example, finance, consulting, product development or product management.
  • Excellent oral and communication skills.
  • Requires proficient knowledge of Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate product and customer profitability.
  • Strategic skills to evaluate product development, competition, marketing and operational strategy
  • Ability to build and maintain financial models
  • Ability to create presentations and marketing material
  • Ability to understand client requirements.
  • Ability to be conversant with IT, Accounting, Pricing Sales, Executive Management.
  • Ability to deal with executive level clients and business partners.
