Actuarial Lead, Assurant-GCC, India
The Actuarial Lead supports various actuarial functions that include pricing, reserving, financial reporting, capital management & forecasting in the APAC region.
They provide moderate to highly complex analysis and techniques which support Assurant operations in achieving its goals related to revenue and profitability targets.
The Actuarial Lead also demonstrates pre-supervisory skillsets related to project organization, task delegation and training.
This position will be Remote at our India location.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
- Creates new memorandums, reports, and other business communications with logical structure and minimal assistance. Develops and implements solutions to translate financial projections into business metrics; aware of area productivity, processes, & business profitability.
- Understands various data sources and gathers data appropriately; prepares projections and applies detail from management recommendations and industry trends which may affect analysis
- Probes to understand report requesters' needs, appropriately adjusts methodologies as necessary using a wide range of techniques; suggests alternative approaches
- Recommends solutions to translate financial projections into business metrics; aware of area productivity, processes, & business profitability
- Interacts with and responds to various internal (finance, accounting, regulatory, IT, etc.) areas and requests regarding business processes, gaps, strategy & improvements.
- Comfortable with having virtual conversations and communicating with work partners all over APAC countries and potential internationally.
- Provides suggestions that help develop methods to improve system & data quality and recommends measures for revisions.
- Participates in cross-training and knowledge sharing within team/department/internal, related areas; leads internal team projects; periodically completes peer review. Provides manager with feedback as needed.
- Manages multiple projects with varying deadlines and complexity.
- Actively manages self-development. Takes actuarial exams in pursuit of professional designation.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related field and a minimum of 7+ exams completed.
- Overall 6-10 years of work experience with at least half of the time in pricing or underwriting.
- Minimum of 4-8 years of progressive responsibilities and related experience in an actuarial role.
- Must be pursuing actuarial designation.
- Has specialized level of understanding actuarial concepts, insurance products and industry knowledge.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint. Advanced to Expert proficiency to various data repository platforms (SAS/SQL/etc.).
What other the Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge?
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related field and a minimum of 7+ exams completed
- Must be an Associate of the Actuarial Society (CAS/SOA/CIA/IFoA)
- Minimum of 1-2 years of post-designation experience preferred.
- Has specialized level of understanding actuarial concepts, insurance product and industry knowledge.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint. Advanced to Expert proficiency to various data repository platforms (SAS/SQL/etc.)
- Seeks out and learns additional software tools that can help bring alternative and creative ways of showcasing data analysis. Implements and/or leads teams to improve data quality and systems efficiency, producing deeper analysis and eliminating data issues.
- Exhibits advanced skills in managing long and complex projects through to completion.
- Begins to establish a leadership role in situations with conflict.
- Identifies core business relationships. Assesses personal growth interests and seeks ways to learn from leaders within the organization. Proactively solicits opportunities to enhance connections.
