Associate ServiceNow Engineer

The ServiceNow Associate Engineer is a key member of a high energy team who will support and help to develop the ServiceNow platform. The Associate Engineer is responsible for configuration, development, operation and maintenance of the platform. This may include working with cross-functional teams to ensure development needs are met. The incumbent will understand ServiceNow functionality and how processes can be enabled, and business problems solved using ServiceNow. The Associate Engineer will be expected to stay abreast of emerging technologies and capabilities of the ServiceNow platform and assist in identifying ways in which those advancements can benefit the company.

The ServiceNow team requires high collaboration among its members to ensure best practices are consistently employed in all activities. The Associate Engineer will grow to possess a deep understanding of the ServiceNow Platform, implementation, integrations, and cross-process and cross-product dependencies within the platform.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

55% Operational Support

  • Support the platform to ensure stability, upgradeability, integrity and efficient operation of the platform
  • Execute upgrades and assist with testing patches and fixes
  • Investigate and resolve incidents reported to the ServiceNow Platform Team
  • Assist as necessary with resolving Platform Performance issues and recommend and implement platform performance optimization strategies

35% Solution Development and Delivery

  • Work with key stakeholders (process owners, service owners, among others) to match requirements with platform capabilities.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering and story creation all the way through to solution development and testing.
  • Develop innovative solutions that deliver high value business outcomes.

10% Strategic Initiatives

  • Act as a key contributor on platform growth and integration initiatives that enable strategic outcomes.
  • Participate in the implementation of new applications and modules as necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to solve business problems using the capabilities of the ServiceNow platform.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

IT Knowledge and Skills:

Academic knowledge of Technology methodologies (life-cycle mgmt, Agile, ITIL, Waterfall), Practical  knowledge of Windows, Unix/Linux Operating Systems, Technology infrastructures in distributed/cloud configurations, broad network IP, relational databases and AD/LDAP directory understanding. Proficient in powershell or equivalent scripting languages.


Strong communication acumen both orally and written , service oriented, ability to learn quickly, carries out work requirements with some guidance.


Base education of a GED High-School Diploma with at least 6 months of technical experience in implementation delivery and operational support of vendor server-based applications. Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technically relevant degrees preferred.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude in logical and analytical thinking with strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience in working in a team environment
  • Experience with ServiceNow configuration and development a plus
