AVP Manager of Capability & Pipeline Programs

Our Opportunity

We have a newly created opportunity for an AVP, Manager Capability and Pipeline Programs, that will be accountable for overseeing, designing, and leading talent strategies to advance manager capability and develop a global pipeline of talent at all levels within Assurant. This will be achieved by assessing and prioritizing needs and developing fit-for-purpose, scalable solutions that extend beyond training and programs to include working with business leaders to embed new ways of working back on the job.  Your strategies and solutions will take enterprise priorities, projected value for investment (time and funding), speed to delivery, employee experience, and sustainability into consideration.  You will be part of the Talent’s extended leadership team and participate in guiding and executing the strategic direction of the Talent function at Assurant. As the AVP, Manager Capability and Pipeline Programs, you will have one direct report. You will have the opportunity to build a team of Program Managers and Facilitators to support different talent programs and/or audiences.

There are flexible work options for this opportunity, including:

  • 100% virtual (working from any location in North America, South America, or Europe) 

  • hybrid (work from home some days and onsite at one of our office locations other days, provided you live nearby one of our onsite locations.

  • 100% onsite if you live nearby and prefer to work from one of our office locations.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Building a deep understanding of the business (current state, vision, strengths and challenges) and strong business relationships at an executive level in order to diagnose needs, anticipate current and future needs, prioritize where support and impact would be greatest, and develop plans to deliver on the organization’s goals and objectives.

  • Owning the design, build, procurement of, and/or implementation of fit-for-purpose, cost-effective, sustainable strategies and solutions that deliver results, leveraging a digital-first approach when appropriate.

  • Outlining and executing on a vision for how to staff and resource the Manager Capability and Pipeline Programs team to deliver on key business objectives today and in the future.  

  • Assessing and monitoring the efficacy of solutions with a focus on performance, progression, adoption, employee experience, engagement, retention, etc. and continuously improving efficacy over time.

  • Sourcing and actively managing vendors who are part of our service delivery model to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.

  • Managing and optimizing budgets while also building sound business cases to secure executive sponsorship as a means to procure additional posts and/or funding when necessary.

  • Keeping up on best practices and industry trends and working across our Talent function to ensure we develop a strong engine and infrastructure to support high-quality solutions, some of which are scalable and others that are targeted for specific talent segments.  

  • Proactively identifying, engaging, and keeping key stakeholders informed of plans and progress, soliciting their input, and/or co-designing solutions when appropriate.

  Requirements

  • Prior experience in a global, preferably Fortune 500 company

  • 7 years of experience working in a Talent or HR/People related function

  • 7 years of experience leading talent, leadership, and/or L&D programs

  • 5 years of direct people management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in adult learning, instructional, digital learning solutions, program design, and/or executive level facilitation

  • Prior experience in a fast-paced organization within the technology, mobile, or financial services industries.

  • 7+ years working for a Global Fortune 500 company

  • Prior experience partnering with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to deliver on targeted goals

  • Prior experience overseeing, designing, and/or leading top talent/high potential development programs at various levels.

  • Prior experience managing global programs delivered in multiple languages.

How much should I expect to travel?  

In all cases, some travel (up to 25%) may be required.
