As the AVP of Product Management, you will be responsible for driving profitable growth for our Specialty Auto and Commercial Equipment lines of business. This includes planning, organizing, leading, and coordinating work and service for the product.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Owns P&L accountability for Specialty Auto and Commercial Equipment products and is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and influencing all aspects of growth and profitability
  • Works across the enterprise in the development of innovative products leveraging Assurant’s core capabilities
  • Works with Assurant’s international teams in expanding our global presence
  • Partners with business and support groups on the development and deployment of risk management measures
  • Partners with Sales team to develop growth plan and to drive activities
  • Works with the marketing team to build and execute on marketing strategy
  • Actively scans markets and responds to trends, including competitive practices, regulatory and legislative issues
  • Expands opportunities by sourcing new business ideas through interaction with other business lines within Assurant, clients, competitive analysis, industry trends, and primary research
  • Develops and presents business plans and justification for new business opportunities/new products
  • Defines and develops new product features and market positioning based upon customer need and competitive environment
  • Works with IT to get enhancements or new ideas implemented for product/platform
  • Ownership of AGILE and FIT products
  • Leads contract negotiations and implementation with product support vendors
  • Manages all M&A activity and alignment of resources
  • Lead a team of up to 5 members
  • Guides underwriting, ensures appropriate risk management guardrails are developed and deployed
  • Ensures all operational support groups are aligned with the business and meeting our partner’s needs.
  • 15% travel will be required, international and domestic

What will be required to succeed in this role:

  • Five (5) years of progressive responsibilities and proven experience in successfully managing complex business lines, inclusive of data analysis, team building, and financial planning
  • Five (5) years of experience working across enterprise groups within an organization for the development of roadmaps, new product designs, and P&L functions
  • Five (5) years of experience with Agile processes and management of IT-related projects
  • B.S./B.A. degree

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • M.B.A. or equivalent advanced degree
  • Experience with product branding, pricing, positioning, and competitive analysis
  • Experience successfully communicating with, selling to, and obtaining the support of senior leadership on new initiatives
  • Proven ability to think strategically and innovatively
  • Proven oral, written, and presentation skills to effectively communicate product strategy and corresponding operating procedures to all levels within the company
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Problem-solving ability and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities and priorities to meet organizational goals
  • Exceptional project management skills and organizational skills to complete multiple complex tasks in a timely fashion
  • Experienced in performing in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous business environment
  • Collaboration with senior-level specialists throughout an enterprise
  • Ability to distill and develop action plans and measurements from the strategic plan and to successfully communicate the goals and action plans to others, rally support, and drive for the desired results
