Business Unit Systems Analyst

Assurant is seeking a Business Unit Systems Analyst with the opportunity to work remote from Home!

The Business Unit Systems Analyst is responsible for researching, gathering, understanding, and documenting various artifacts by collaborating with business product owners, subject matter experts, operations, and IT team members.  This role solicits requirements, performs gap analysis, create PBI’s, conduct root cause analysis, create complex process flows and provide recommendations based on analysis/research conducted.

The BUSA may also be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the requests and serving as a mini-project manager. The BUSA supports several team members throughout all phases of the SDLC able to handle multiple projects/requests.  Responsibilities includes data analytics using various querying tools. The BSA shall have a good understanding of business processes and related systems/interfaces.

Primary responsibilities

  • Analyzing and evaluating the current application and identifying areas of improvement.
  • Create detailed Product Backlog items (PBI’s) or user stories for enhancements and production support items.
  • Able to conduct In-dept data analysis using various tools (E.g., Excel, SQL, Easy Query) and provide that information to the management.
  • Create complex process flows, swim lane diagrams using Visio or any other UML tools.
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions then identify features and user stories.
  • Demonstrate quality, attentiveness, and attention to detail in all work activities.
  • Review test cases and provide recommendations to cover all scenarios.
  • Experience using Azure Dev OPS (ADO) as a business requirements tool to create various artifacts including EPIC, Features, user stories, bugs and tasks.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast paced and challenging environment.
  •  Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to perform essential functions.
  • Experience working in business rules, understanding expressions and actions

Basic qualifications

  • 6 years’ experience working as a Business Systems Analyst
  • 6 years of overall IT experience with significant experience in software development
  • Experience with both traditional Waterfall SDLC and Agile / Lean methodologies
  • Experience with Microsoft Products; Excel, Word, Visio and Project
  • Experience with project tools such as TFS/ADO
  • Experience planning, facilitating, eliciting, documenting and managing business, functional and technical requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT or related field
  • Experience working in Kanban or Scrum team.
  • Experience in claims system.
  • Experience within querying data and report building from a data warehouse or data library.
  • Good understanding on Web Services, API’s
  • Experience with web applications – Angular or Blazor
