Compliance Manager, Netherlands

The opportunity:
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you will provide support in the Compliance Program for the Assurant Europe to help the business in achieving its strategic goals through clear compliance advice. You’ll work with the compliance team and senior management to maintain and implement the organisations strategic approach to regulatory risk and help deliver the compliance plan. You’ll provide SME guidance for the regulated areas of the business, and support the business to make operational decisions taking into account the regulatory risks and challenges
Other responsibilities include;
- Assist the Head of Compliance to enhance and maintain the EU compliance program.
- Undertake reviews of Assurant Europe general insurance regulated businesses to ensure the groups regulatory compliance strategy, policies and operational processes are followed, that all gaps and risks are identified, and reported to the business for remediation.
- Ensuring systems and controls are in place which can be evidenced and reported on to the EU Regulators and Supervisory Authorities and that actions following several oversight and monitoring activity are met.
- Provide proactive, proportionate advice, guidance, direction, and interpretation with regards Compliance issues and develop Compliance relationships across the designated areas of the business.
- Review customer facing communications and financial promotional materials needed for EU wide schemes.
- Demonstrate compliance knowledge of Dutch and cross boarder rules and regulations by keeping up to date with all relevant regulations and understand how these will affect the business.
- Assist the Head of Compliance to manage regulatory relationship in multiple EU jurisdictions.
- Identify and lead opportunities in the organization to improve compliance efforts and stimulate compliance awareness and compliant behaviour.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the business processes and assess the relevant compliance risks and controls.
- Execute compliance program standards.
- Create compliance training to increase compliance awareness.
- Take part in the wider compliance function by assisting with training, providing management with written reports and other ad-hoc projects.
You will have the following skills;
- Educational background Bachelor or above, preferably in Dutch law
- English language skills both oral and written are mandatory.
- Fluent in Dutch is preferred; and proficiency of any of the following languages: French, German, Italian and Spanish
- Relevant experience in the general insurance industry
- Experience working in a matrix environment and influencing outcomes where no line management exists
- Knowledge of the Dutch regulations regarding our business model and activities
- Knowledge and experience in compliance monitoring, PARP, SIRA and Financial Crime.
- Knowledge of the compliance risks and control mechanisms of the firm
- Ability to produce comprehensive Management Information about Compliance/Regulatory activities
- Ability to challenge business policies, processes and procedures in a constructive and effective manner.
- Good relationship and stakeholder management
- Takes ownership, resilient, proactive with no 9-5 mentality
