Timely and accurate generation of Financial Information for Legal entities in Mexico, for the appropriate decision making. Punctual compliance with local regulation and US GAAP reporting deliverables deadlines. Establishment of an adequate Control Environment for the Controllership function being the General Ledger (GL) accuracy the main responsibility.
Primary Job Accountabilities/ Responsibilities
Responsible for the accurate registration of the economic transactions reported to the Legal entities (clients activity, expenses, payroll, etc)
Information should be accurately reflected in the GL.
On time reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts for Local Gaap and USGaap based on the periodicity established by the Policy.
Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual close for both, local (statutory close) Gaap and USGaap in accordance with deadlines required by either the regulators or Corporate Office.
Main responsibility for regulatory reporting to the Insurance Commission (RR7, FOPAS, Financial Statements, Reporte de Solvencia y Condición económica, etc), based on the periodicity established by the Regulator.
Attendance of external and internal auditors, as well as Regulatory audits.
Responsible for the adequate implementation of an effective internal control environment over the Financial function and over the accurate recognition of economic transactions into the GL.
Main Responsibility for the Accounting system administration. Responsible for raising accounting issues identified on a timely basis to Corporate, preparing supporting documentation and proposing implementing solutions to avoid recurrence of issues in the future.
Primary accounting point of contact between Mexico and the Global Lifestyle team/Corporate.
Implementation on a timely basis of action and mitigation plans as a result of recommendations or findings reported by the different auditors (internal, external, regulatory).
Responsible for accurate accounting entries for each business activity.
Assistance in responding the regulators as a result of any official document (Oficios, reemplazamientos, etc) received and that requires responses from the Controllership function.
Key point of contact with International Controller in Corporate Office.
Responsible for accurate accounting for Reinsurance ceded or assumed, elaborate reinsurance statements and follow up on payments or recoveries and closing balances on a monthly or quarterly basis with reinsurers.
Responsible for the collections department, including premiums and other receivables, and ensuring the aging is less than 90 days by client and LoB
Responsible for the billing department for premiums, deductibles, intercompany balances, reinsurance and other processes within Assurant entities.
- Bachelor’s in public accounting.
- Experience of at least 4 years on a Management position (with a robust team and direct reports).
- Experience in Insurance Companies of at least 4 years.
- US GAAP knowledge
