Assurant has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Financial Planning and Analysis!

Overview of Position

Reporting directly to the Connected Living Vice President of FP&A, the Director will lead the process in the development and delivery of insightful analysis capable of driving sound business decision making, contributing to the attainment of the Company’s revenue, profitability and return targets.

The Director will serve as a business partner within the Connected Living business to our business leaders, as well as collaborating with our corporate partners, to align our business goals and overall line-of-business financial targets.

The Director will play an integral role in management reporting for month-end & quarter-end close, quarterly forecast process, annual operating planning process, and long-term strategic financial projections.  Additionally, the Director will be responsible for supporting our business leaders, providing the analysis, narrative, and required deliverables for leadership. 

This individual will foster and drive an environment of continuous improvement to include the development of new capabilities, the evaluation and implementation of new tools, and efforts to create scalability.

What will be my responsibilities for this position?

  • Provide business partnering support with insightful analysis to finance and business leaders in support of strategic objectives from strategic decision making to execution

  • Coordinate, oversee the preparation of analysis, and deliver key messaging for critical meetings, including leadership meetings, quarterly earnings call, Board of Directors & Audit Committee meetings, Investor Day, etc.; continuing to advance analytics and insights

  • Assist with the Connected Living’s business actuals and planning & forecasting processes, including coordinating timelines and deliverables across the line of business, building the product storylines, and developing presentations for Executive leadership and Board reporting

  • Build FP&A team’s capabilities including agility and scalability – not only execute on various initiatives, but also add substantial value to the decision-making process through proactive data mining, insightful analysis and research

  • Continuously looking for areas to improve the effectiveness of the Connected Living FP&A processes and strive to streamline processes for efficiency

  • Assist with acquisition financial analysis and integration; perform special projects, as needed

Responsibility for the work of others

  • This role doesn't currently have any direct reports but could have a Financial Analyst reporting to them in the near term

Financial Responsibility

  • Assist with Connected Living’s revenue and expense management forecasting and planning

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required

  • 10+ years of progressive management experience in business analytics, planning, forecasting and strategy

  • Advanced Excel skills, including ability to build reports with appropriate formula checks throughout and audit the work of others for accuracy

  • Intermediate PowerPoint skills, including the ability to present information to executive audiences

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Advanced degree MBA and/or CPA preferred

  • Clarity in telling the financial story, while leveraging data and insights to draw conclusions

  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written

  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to leverage information through advance analytics to produce valuable business, market, and customer insights

  • Experience with IBM Planning Analytics / TM1

  • Experience leading teams and driving them to excel

  • Ambition and drive to continue progression and career build
