The opportunity:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer Europe, you will be a business partner, that has primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial related activities. This includes forecasting, strategic planning, deal analysis, M&A support, and Finance Change/Transformation. In addition, the CFO has oversight for control, accounting and reporting, liquidity and treasury, capital and solvency management, Actuarial, Pricing and Underwriting and Tax functions. This role is a member of the Dutch Management Board with regulator responsibility.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Lead, develop and direct financial strategy and implementation within the Netherlands
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting and target setting, liquidity, capital and solvency management processes
  • Support business strategy creation to realise vision and create sustainable customer, client & business value.
  • Act as strategic business partner to senior executive leadership team and management board.
  • Provide the Board and Executive team with accurate, timely and robust financial reporting.
  • Monitor and report overall business and enterprise profitability
  • Challenge the Board and Executive to ensure optimum business, revenue and cost control performance.
  • Establish and maintain financial and other process controls to ensure the business is managed in accordance with its legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Collaborate with the tax team to ensure effective tax treatment of the business (as part of oversight role).
  • Assess and evaluate financial performance, provides insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plans of organization.
  • Supports new business and commercial initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate systems and controls are in place to support all financial regulatory requirements.
  • Define business excellence and quality standards that establish market “norms and benchmarks”.
  • Builds capability and talent opportunity for all finance employees.
  • Ensure lawful, regulatory & ethical conduct of business.

You will have the following skills;

  • Member of either NBA/CIMA/ACCA or European equivalent institutes
  • Extensive Post Qualification Experience
  • Held Finance Director or CFO positions previously; preferably in Financial Services or Insurance industries
  • Proficient in Solvency II, all pillars, including capital & carrier management.
  • Proven commercial and strategy formulation experience
  • Experience in mergers & acquisitions
  • Approved regulator status required to perform in role (in the Netherlands)
  • Competent in managing external stakeholders: Regulator officers, banks, external auditors.
  • Operated at Board level and Executive Committee level in complex governance business
  • Adept and working in a multi stakeholder and matrix organisation
  • Knowledge of ESG
  • C1 in Dutch and English language, both verbal and written
