Assurant is seeking candidates with experience managing a team of IT auditors in a large company with a complex technology environment. The IT Audit Manager is part of the Internal Audit team and primarily responsible for planning and performing information system control testing in support of business audits (integrated audits).

The technology scope of integrated audits can include application change management, SaaS configuration management, data processing integrity, data availability /retention, security training, and business continuity. These risk-based audits determine if governance processes, risk management, and internal controls are operating effectively, and risks are adequately controlled.

The IT Audit Manager ensures audit efforts are focused on the right risks, and the timely execution of control testing in support of Assurant’s audit plan.  The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of IT processes, risks, automated/manual controls, and a willingness to share ideas and identify solutions to maintain an efficient IT Audit program and a reliable control environment.

The IT Audit Manager may also be called upon for other assurance activities including the coordination and oversight of 3rd party consulting services (preparing requirements, vendor selection, overseeing work efforts, budget management, and reporting).

What will be my responsibilities for this position?

Lead Assurant’s integrated audit control testing program:

  • Manage a team of IT auditors
  • Work with business audit peers to scope and schedule the IT portion of integrated audits
  • Assigns, supervises, and evaluates the work of Internal Audit staff driving quality and timely execution of IT control testing
  • Ensure that conclusions drawn are supported by compelling evidence; ensures that working papers contain adequate evidence to support conclusions and adhere to working paper standards.
  • Work directly with IT management to provide insight into potential control gaps
  • Provide timely engagement updates to Internal Audit and technology management
  • Support issue remediation efforts, including tracking the status of open issues and other IT-related findings
  • Identify efficiencies through the use of data analytics and robotic process automation
  • As needed, assist with the testing of IT general controls related to SOX compliance
  • Ensure the team is trained and follows Internal Audit methodology
  • May be required to travel (post pandemic) up to 10%

Build relationships with IT leaders:

  • Develop relationships with technology control process owners to maintain an awareness of their key objectives, strategies, and initiatives
  • Build and maintain an understanding of Assurant’s IT control landscape
  • Communicate with process owners to clarify the importance of an effective control environment and the role of internal audit
  • Maintain awareness of significant changes across the organization and their potential impact on the established control environment

Department development:

  • Assist with the ongoing evaluation and enhancement of Assurant’s Internal Audit methodology
  • Pursue professional development opportunities, including external and internal training, and share lessons learned with co-workers

What are the requirements for this position?

  • 2 years of Internal Audit experience, leading a team of IT auditors in a large company
  • Excellent oral, written, listening, and presentation skills
  • Proven track record in applying broad business knowledge and practical experience to working with and managing technology risks and controls
  • Demonstrated ability in project planning, management, and leading staff
  • Creative, self-starter, quick thinker, and dedicated individual who is eager to put his/her stamp on this job role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure while managing multiple assignments and priorities
  • Holds or intends to obtain related professional certification, such as CISA, CISSP, CISM, CIA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • Working knowledge of authentication and identity management platforms such as Okta, Active Directory, or SailPoint
  • 4 years of experience leading a team of IT auditors in a large company
