Lead Accountant

Assurant has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Accountant on our SEC Reporting team!

Responsibilities

This individual will assist with the coordination, preparation and review of the consolidated GAAP financial reporting close process for Form 10-Q and 10-K. This primarily includes assisting with the development of the overall financial close workplan, performing analytics, preparing or reviewing disclosures, including the MD&A, and supporting documents under tight deadlines, maintaining appropriate supporting documentation for all disclosures and responding to requests from external and internal audit. (40%) Review quarterly earnings documents, including the earnings releases and financial supplements, for consistency and accuracy, and assist with coordination and preparation of certain supporting documents.  (25%) Support management with ad hoc requests. This may include assistance with 8-K filings, the company’s benefit plan financial statements or other regulatory filings, stock compensation accounting, and various projects, such as financial systems implementation, information requests from senior management, and accounting or disclosure research.   (25%) Assist with the quarterly XBRL process and reporting requirements. This primarily includes updating and reviewing XBRL tagging and working with our third party vendor support to ensure compliance with all regulations.  (10%)

Experience/Educational Requirements

  • B.S. in Accounting

  • CPA preferred

  • 4-6 years of public accounting experience, Big 4 preferred

  • Insurance experience preferred

  • Experience with Oracle and Workiva a plus

Travel

Infrequent travel may be required
