Lead Accountant, International

Assurant has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Accountant position!

Overview of Position

The Lead Accountant is responsible for supporting International accounting and financial reporting, including foreign parent holding company accounting/audit support, as well as preparing local regulatory filings and supporting audits of Caribbean branches of ABLAC.

What will be my responsibilities in this role?

  • Assist with new governance function over international financial statement filings

  • Provide dashboard reporting over governance process

  • Manage several foreign parent holding company audits, preparing local regulatory filings, etc.

  • Local-to-GAAP Int reconciliations (Canada, Europe, APAC & LATAM)

  • Deep dive of Int'l reconciliations (Canada, Europe, APAC & LATAM)

  • Calendar coordination & alignment 

What are the requirements needed for this position?


  • College degree in accounting


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Accounting/Finance role

Knowledge and Skills:

  • US GAAP knowledge

  • Knowledge of insurance accounting principles

  • IFRS knowledge

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office

  • Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to manage numerous deadlines and prioritize workload accordingly

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • CPA, chartered accountant or equivalent designation

  • Big 4 accountancy experience

  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred)

  • Experience in preparing consolidated financial statements

  • Experience in coordinating audit processes

  • Experience in regulatory reporting

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

How much should I expect to travel?

  • Travel up to 10%

Pay Range

$60,700.00 - $101,100.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience, and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
