Lead Financial Analyst

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to support the Director of Finance as part of the Financial Planning & Analysis Team. The Lead Financial Analyst should exercise independence and good judgment when researching, analyzing, and formulating a comprehensive response to satisfy business requests, which may be complex in nature. The ideal candidate will be an innovative analytical person who is able to dive below the surface and figure out the key drivers of results. Specific responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide financial decision support to senior management.
  • Spearhead monthly and quarterly financial reviews, preparing reports and presentations for senior management.
  • Perform a deep-dive analysis of budget, actuals, and forecasts, delivering insights to senior leadership.
  • Create and maintain economic models for analysis purposes and preparation of business plans
  • Reporting, research, and analysis for internal customers on a monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc basis.
  • Take a lead role in coordinating and managing the annual budgeting process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and present special projects providing technical and financial support to conduct management objectives.
  • Take on complex data analysis projects and prepare reports for senior leadership as needed.
  • Oversee timely completion of the monthly client reporting (both internal and external), and the accurate calculation of client & sales compensation in accordance with contractual agreement.
  • Analyze business policies and practices and recommend changes as needed
  • Function as a mentor to financial analyst, providing guidance and fostering professional growth.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and special reporting as requested by business management. Provide insights and recommendations to address specific financial challenges

Skills & Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or relevant certifications (CPA, CFA) are a plus.
  • Total of 5+ years financial analyst experience: Competent in reviewing financial statements, identifying key business value drivers, and developing projected financial data.
  • Strong understanding of how economic trends, political situations, policies, and regulations may affect business results
  • Strong general business knowledge to produce relevant research, including business writing skills to summarize information
  • Strong people skills to effectively work with other departments
  • Strong data analysis skills to structure/create data sets and synthesize information using Microsoft Excel and other financial tools (SQL Server, Power BI reporting & Alteryx experience a plus)
  • Initiative-taking self starter ready to hit the ground running
  • Able to process complex time-sensitive data and information from multiple sources, make decisions based on this data, and effectively communicate the related actions to a broad audience
  • Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong presentation and computer skills (proficiency with Excel, Word, & Power Point)
