Overview of Position

The IT Audit Manager is primarily responsible for planning and performing audits of infrastructure systems to determine if governance processes, risk management, and internal controls are operating effectively, and risks are adequately controlled. Infrastructure audits focus on global systems and technology (on-premises and cloud) that support Assurant’s applications and business operations. Audits generally cover infrastructure change management, privileged access management, security operations, backups, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and infrastructure lifecycle management. The IT Audit Manager may also be called upon for other assurance activities including the coordination and oversight of 3rd party consulting services (preparing requirements, vendor selection, overseeing work efforts, budget management, and reporting).

What will be my responsibilities for this position?

Build relationships with IT leaders:

  • Develop relationships with technology platform owners to maintain an awareness of their key objectives, strategy, and initiatives

  • Communicate with process and control owners to clarify the importance of an effective control environment, and the role of internal audit

Plan audits:

  • Maintain awareness of significant changes across the organization and their potential impact on the established control environment

  • Maintain awareness of technology trends, risks, and controls through training and networking

  • Drive risk-prioritized audit scheduling, planning and delivery

  • Create and leverage innovative audit techniques, such as data analytics, robotic process automation, or continuous monitoring

Perform audits:

  • Design risk-based IT audits of cloud and on-premises technology platforms, IT operations, and system implementations

  • Execute audit procedures including leading interviews, requesting, reviewing, and analyzing evidence

  • Document test steps in detailed, well-supported work papers

  • Discuss IT risks and control gaps with technology platform owners and management

  • Provide timely engagement updates to audit and technology management

  • Draft accurate, well supported audit reports and issue/risk statements

  • Assess the adequacy of issue remediation plans

  • Track the status of open issues and evaluate remediation efforts

  • As needed, manage audit teams and 3rd party engagements

  • As needed, assist with the testing of IT general controls related to SOX compliance

Department development:

  • Participate in the ongoing evaluation and enhancement of Assurant’s audit methodology

  • Pursue professional development opportunities, including external and internal training, and share knowledge with co-workers

What are the requirements for this position?

  • Strong oral, written, listening, and presentation skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a hands-on technology role such as system administration, application development, IT control, or related support function

  • Meaningful exposure to risk-based IT audit including documentation of operational processes, risks, and controls

  • Demonstrated integrity within a professional environment

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

  • Ability to operate a computer with a high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products, including experience with large spreadsheets, databases, and word processing

  • May be required to travel (post COVID) up to 15%

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Minimum of 1 year of risk-based IT audit experience, including documentation of business processes, risks, and controls

  • In-depth knowledge of the threats and vulnerabilities associated with technology infrastructure

  • Strong knowledge of IT controls related to system design, administration, operation, information security, change management and software development

  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms, Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud, or Salesforce

  • Proven track record in applying broad technology experience to managing technology risks

  • Demonstrated ability in project planning, management, and leading staff

  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure while managing multiple assignments and priorities

  • Working knowledge of identity/authentication platforms such as Active Directory, RACF, Oracle Identity Manager or SailPoint

  • Exposure to a variety of technologies that can be used to export, import, manipulate data. For example:  MS Excel, MS SQL Server, Oracle, Tableau

  • Some experience working with data analytics

  • Holds or intends to obtain related professional certification, such as CISA, CISSP, CISM, CIA

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
