What's the role about?

Reporting into the Financial Controller ANZ, this position is primarily responsible for leading the areas of GL accounting, reporting & analytics under local and US GAAP, and preparing accurate and timely results and financial information.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Management of month-end and quarter-end reporting for the Australian and New Zealand entities to Corporate and all stakeholders across the business.
  • Preparing and reviewing the financial statements, audit requirements, statistical returns and regulatory returns (APRA, ASIC and RBNZ for TWG, TWGNZ, VA, VNZ and NUA AU and NZ), including addressing the comments from the Financial Controller and discussions with the key stakeholders
  • End-to-end management of all audits and support ANZ Controller in submitting timely filings for all entities.
  • Ensuring all intercompany agreements and accounting are set up in accordance with company policy, meeting all SOX requirements and ensuring the intercompany transactions are properly eliminated in consolidation.
  • Ensuring financial returns are consistent with the appropriate accounting standards and regulatory and auditing requirements and are in compliance with company policies and procedures through regular monitoring and review and maintaining strong controls over the general ledger.
  • Development of profit & loss and balance sheet analytics to create meaningful KPIs and financial information for management review.
  • Reviewing local balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring reconciliations are completed in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with the company’s reconciliation policy.

Does this sound like you?

  • Qualified Accountant – CPA/CA with 7-8 years of experience post qualification  
  • Insurance industry knowledge
  • Demonstrable financial accounting knowledge and skills
  • Strong management skills and a desire to develop team members
  • Experience leading a team, and in a remote environment preferred
  • Ability to manage numerous deadlines and prioritize workload to achieve the deadlines
  • Effective liaison with internal and external audit
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders
  • Attention to detail
