Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Assurant provides an excellent learning environment for Interns. We are seeking an Intern to join our La Vergne, TN team this summer! The intern will assist our team to strengthen the Manufacturing & Production departments while supporting sound business decision making and concrete actions which realize value for our clients and our business.  

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?  

  • Performs Root Cause Analysis/Countermeasure implementation.
  • Supports and drives 5s continuous improvement.
  • Analyzes data helping the support of control charts and setting up Quality improvements to reduce quality defects
  • Performs defect/problem analysis with support of other process engineers
  • Support and foster the Assurant Way and Culture, supporting Common Sense and Common Decency.
  • Shows commitment to company values, ethics, safety, security, and quality
  • Write work instructions to support Operations with guidance from other process engineers
  • May support engineering in Cad layout.
  • May support engineering in 3D models and 3D printing

  • Ability to draw insights from data set that are actionable for the business

What are the requirements needed for this position?  

  • Enrolled full-time in college (carrying 12 or more undergraduate credits, or 9 or more graduate credits) in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related program.
  • Completed first year of a two-year associates degree program or your junior year in a four-year bachelor's degree program.
  • Be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher).
  • Two years of strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent follow up skills
  • Organized and able to work under constantly changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Professional demeanor
  • Possess a positive outlook, viewing challenges as opportunities
  • Ability to quickly learn new applications
  • Competently handle ambiguity and the corresponding ability to quickly provide sound decisions and perform tasks with less than complete information
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in MS Office Suite

The target pay for this intern role is $18.00/hr - $21.00/hr. The amount may differ due to a wide range of factors, including candidate background, experience and work location.
