Business Development Manager, Assurant, India
The Business Development Manager will lead and manage new client opportunities for Connected Living Business India. The role will be responsible for identifying and developing a pipeline of new clients through a robust sales process.
BD Manager will create and present clearly defined proposals, ensuring all identified opportunities at Fintech’s, Insurers, OEM’s and Retailers as are successfully delivered, leveraging Assurant’s products and services.
This position will be in a Hybrid mode at Mumbai location.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
- Expand and pursue opportunities in the assigned business areas, industries, or clients in India
- Expand sales in existing and new accounts by identifying customer needs, participating in the development of client plans and introducing new products and services, leveraging Assurant’s products and services
- Partner with Product and Marketing teams to define differentiated offerings, and develop and manage client strategies and plans to attract new business and grow existing accounts
- Act as a primary point of communication with the assigned clients and enhance relationship by offering support, information, and guidance
- Serve as a liaison by collaborating with internal colleagues (e.g. IT, Operations, Supply Chain, Legal, Compliance, Data Analytics, Finance) to meet the needs of the client, ensure alignment on client’s goals, assumptions, delivery timing, etc., and make sure of smooth running of the program
- Manage RFP processes, negotiate new agreements with clients, define fee structures, and execute the necessary contracting, and manage contract renewals
- Continuously develop, review and build knowledge of the current market and as necessary determine the appropriate changes required as a result of environmental factors, while ensuring competitor awareness is maintained at all times
- Actively works robust sales pipeline from identification of prospects to needs analysis discovery to proposal building to negotiating and closing prospects into active partners.
- Assist in establishing the business strategy and budget to drive increase revenue and profit
- Provide regular updates internally and to clients on the progress of strategies and initiatives such as campaigns
- Develop recommendations to keep execution of plans and strategies on target
- Coordinate business reviews and ensure follow up on deliverables
- Develop and maintain tools to manage project timelines and deliverables internally and with clients
- Monitor risk factors to ensure necessary controls are in place to protect business plan
What are the requirements needed for this position?
- Education- MBA is Mandatory.
- Minimum 7 years sales/BD and Account Management
- Strong Communication and Presentation Skills

- Having strong market knowledge of BFSI, Fintech, Insurers & OEMs for connected living business
- Self-Motivated and Open Minded

What is the Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge needed for this position?
- Master’s degree in business, finance, marketing, or relevant field
- Over 7 years of business/BD and account management experience
- Proven track record as BD professional
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate initiative objectives, implementation plans and status internally and externally
- Deal negotiation/ partnership experience with large sized companies
- Self-starter, quick learner, proactive, flexible, self-motivated and open-minded
- Roll-up sleeves, can-do attitude, creative and out-of-box thinker, strong sense of ownership and responsibility, strong influencing skills engaging and involving relevant parties
- Understanding of market research methods and analysis
- Good organization, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to resolve complex issues with little supervisory support
- Ability to handle ambiguity, uncertainty, and changing priorities
- Experience in handling BFSI, FinTech, Consumer durables/ Electronics OEM’s & Insurers
- Understanding MNC organization and operations and ability to adjust to it while enjoying start-up environment locally.
