Product Analyst

Overview of Position  
As a Personal Lines Product Analyst, you will assist in developing and leveraging knowledge of Assurant’s personal lines Homeowners product as well as individual states’ competitive, legal, and regulatory landscapes, to maximize opportunity and implement strategies for profitable growth. You will assist in launching the newly developed homeowners product in new states and managing P&L of the product within the assigned states post launch.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?  

  • Assist Product Manager with developing and implementing personal lines product plans to meet annual P&L goals.
  • Assist Product Manager in developing coverage solutions, underwriting guidelines, pricing improvements and contract language, as needed, with support from Analytics, Actuarial, Claims, and Compliance areas
  • Understand rate making and product costs (direct and indirect) in analyzing future actions at a state level and rate making exercises. 
  • Define and develop new product features, and market positioning based upon customer need and competitive environment. 
  • Stays aware of industry trends to ensure competitiveness of homeowners product.
  • Assists in continued development of measurement tools and processes to ensure effective management of homeowners product
  • Support geographic-level reporting and analysis.  Prepare maps, visual summaries, heat-charts, exposure analysis and other similar reports and analysis to understand product exposures and risk management at a granular geographic level.
  • Assist in creating and submitting filing packages to state filings team for review by individual state regulatory departments

What are the requirements needed for this position?  

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in interpreting P&C forms, product development and analytics of P&L.
  • Level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • Must have an understanding of Property Casualty Insurance Industry such as coverages and products.

  • Strong planning, organizational and analyzing skills.
  • Excellent listening and communicating skills, including written and verbal. 
  • Strong excel skills.
