Primary Job Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the product roadmap for the Pocket Geek Home app, synthesizing information from the overall Pocket Geek roadmap, other Assurant product roadmaps, clients, Assurant global regions, competitors, market research.

  • Use professional judgment, industry, competitive and market research, market knowledge, and data to drive and manage product development priorities to help achieve Connected Living's business goals.

  • On an ongoing basis, explore and research technologies, products, and partners that have the potential to enrich Pocket Geek Home and our Connected Living digital offering as a whole. Share knowledge with other Product Managers in the organization to develop cross-product features and services that enrich the overall Pocket Geek portfolio.

  • Partner with the Technical Product Owner(s) (TPO) of the Agile development team(s) to prioritize the development backlog using Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF) and to represent Pocket Geek Home in the SAFe Program Increment (PI) process

  • Oversee the sprint cycle together with the TPO(s) and participate in all relevant sprint ceremonies (Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews)

  • Create and prioritize epic and feature requirements in the Azure DevOps (ADO) system. Present requirements to the development team, answer their questions and provide additional data as needed to ensure successful development.

  • Be the Subject Matter Expert on the Pocket Geek Home app, its features, and benefits, and understand the underlying technologies in the Pocket Geek and Assurant Digital ecosystems.

  • Team with Product Marketing, Client Operations, and Assurant BD teams to develop and maintain collateral, business development materials, and other sales support materials.  

Basic Qualifications Required

  • 2 years of professional working experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Proficiency with Agile development methodologies

  • Understanding of the Apple iOS and Google Android app ecosystems

Desired Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Prior experience developing, marketing, or managing mobile apps is highly desired

  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience or other Agile experience is desirable

  • Proven experience to quickly learn and gain an understanding of digital technology and to connect it to business needs and opportunities

  • Experience preparing, presenting, and defending an oral or written argument in support of a strategy or business case

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and to effectively keep management and stakeholders informed of progress and issues

  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn and develop a passion for the assigned business and product area

  • Able to work with cross-functional teams to accomplish business goals.

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills essential

  • Proficiency in use of digital asynchronous communications tools like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and email

Other Requirements

  • Travel up to 20% domestic or international, a valid passport will be required.
