Overview of Position  

As the Product Manager, you will work under leadership direction and according to established guidelines. You will utilize strategic analysis of market trends and business opportunities to develop and implement new personal lines property insurance products, as well as maintain current personal lines property insurance products, that lead to growth and profits consistent with Assurant’s future strategic plan.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?  

  • Complete proactive analysis of assigned states/responsibilities to ensure the integrity of existing products by serving as a team member on channel-driven product enhancement projects.
  • Research business ideas and market opportunities or trends in the personal lines property insurance market that lead to new product ideas.  Develop a comprehensive analysis of the financial potential of new product ideas.
  • Utilize knowledge of rate making and product costs (direct and indirect) in determining future actions at a state level and rate-making exercises.
  • Research, select and define and develop new product features, and market positioning based upon customer need and competitive environment. 
  • Develop quality standards, administration, policy language, and pricing for new products. Develop and present business plans and justification for new business opportunities/new products with potential financial impacts.

What are the requirements needed for this position?  

  • 5 years’ experience in interpreting P&C forms, product development and analytics.
  • 2 years of experience managing teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics/data, engineering, or similar subjects.
  • P & C Insurance Institute Designation i.e. AINS, CPCU, ARM, etc. or license.
     

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?  

  • Master’s degree in similar fields a plus.
  • Knowledge of multiple aspects of business (finance, marketing, operations, HR, technology, legal, etc.). Requires an understanding of the Property Casualty Insurance Industry.
  • Previous experience with project management of large projects.
  • Advanced Excel formula knowledge. Be able to provide detailed analysis with interactive reports.
  • Strong communication skills, including written and verbal.  Ability to create executive summaries.
  • Strong decision-making ability.
  • Strong leadership skills focused on providing coaching and feedback, development of the team, and making sure performance is being achieved.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization, communicating and influencing effectively across different levels.
