Under supervision of the Engineering Automation Director, the RF / Systems Engineer will perform technical evaluations, develop test processes, and documentation required to support RF test of cellular devices.  PC hardware & software maintenance and troubleshooting skills are essential.  Attention to detail and proficiency in analog, digital and RF disciplines is required.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Perform 4G & 5G device characterization utilizing cell site simulator equipment to include Anritsu, Keysight, & Rohde & Schwarz
  • Collaborate with test and measurement OEMs to develop RF scripts for device transmit & receive validation
  • Collaborate with test & measurement OEMs to establish calibration and repair contracts. Equipment scheduling and calibration logistics are added responsibilities
  • Represent Assurant regarding RF testing in support of customers, OEMS, & 3rd party suppliers
  • Provide RF test remote technical support for other Assurant sites, to include travel, as needed
  • Evaluate new devices, OEM repair documents, test equipment and develop test processes to support compliance testing
  • Support flashing and RF testing with regards to failure validation and resolution
  • Install and upgrade service programs, flash files, firmware, and OEM utilities with a focus on systems integration and support
  • Provide daily work direction for 1 or more technicians

What are the requirements needed for this position? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering or equivalent trade school certification
  • Requires 3+ years of experience in RF test and measurement (preferably at the engineering level) with strong customer service skills
  • Work from complex device schematic, layouts, and diagrams
  • Utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and communication test sets
  • Interpret ISB’s, CSB’s, and FSB’s and other OEM and customer product specific documentation to determine relevance to daily responsibilities
  • Actively identify & pursue RF test and process improvement initiatives
  • Identify and report deficiencies and potential improvements to Engineering management
  • Perform root cause failure analysis on field failures (returns) and repair process failures
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced, dynamic assembly and logistics environment
  • Experience with Minitab, Visio, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD, and / or Labview are preferred but not required

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Ability to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, team leaders, managers, and supervisors of the organization 
  • Requires basic arithmetic skills
  • Ability to use positive interpersonal skills to handle customer problems. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma statistical process control techniques
