Senior Business Systems Analyst

The Senior Business Systems Analyst leads and directs elaboration activities in a cross-functional Agile IT team.  In collaboration with business product owners, subject matter experts, and other IT team members, this role solicits requirements, performs gap analysis, and develops user stories to satisfy the business need.  The BSA supports all team members throughout all phases of the SDLC.  The BSA maintains a broad understanding of business processes and related systems/interfaces and is called upon to provide strategic input when necessary. This position resides in a matrix environment and supports a large-scale distributed, complex technical platform and will often share duties and responsibilities with the Technical Product Owners.

This is role can work remote in Canada, but will work EST hours.

Primary Responsibilities:

·         Features and User Stories development

o   Initiate elaboration meetings

o   Drive feature elaboration by questioning what, who, and why of the feature

o   Break features down into user stories

o   Gather, elicit, and document the details of user stories

·         Production Support

o   Perform root-cause and impact analysis for Tier 2 tickets

o   Have thorough SQL skills to perform data impact analysis

·         General delivery and Agile process participation

o   Practice agile approach and processes

o   Work collaboratively to reach team and program goals

·         Works with Business Product Owner to understand business objectives and product requirements, collaborates with BPO to prioritize the backlog; collaborates with business stakeholders to clarify user story requirements as needed

·         Writes functional and technical user stories that clearly communicate customer/stakeholder needs to the Agile team, accepts stories once complete

·         Understands and supports inter-team dependencies, and escalates issues when necessary

·         Collaborate with Agile team, setting and communicating release dates and scope

Basic Qualifications:

·         5+ years of working experience in IT, business systems analysis.

·         3+ years of working experience dealing with customers - internal or external in any capacity 

·         3+ years of working experience in a large-scale complex distributed environment

·         Participated and contributed in each stage of an IT project lifecycle (Planning, Design, Execution, Monitor, Control)

·         Has a proven background in leading medium-high complexity and cost IT projects throughout each of the project phases (Planning, Design, Execution, Monitor, Control)

·         1-3 years’ experience in a requirements intake (e.g. business analyst), SME, or process owner role

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience within querying data and report building from a data warehouse or data library

·         Experience in design and development of Business to Consumer Websites

·         Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of SDLC

·         Experience in a project management role

·         Experience with Web Services, SharePoint Development a plus

·         Requires understanding of planning, analysis and testing techniques required to support business application development

·         Requires ability to process time sensitive data and information from multiple sources, collaborate with others to make decisions and communicate actions

·         Adaptable, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast paced and frequently changing environment

·         Proactively recognize process improvement opportunities
