The Senior Buyer negotiates the purchase of complex equipment and strategic services within authorized limits, processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders using system software, looks for optimization, cost reduction, improved lead-times and product quality.  The Senior Buyer coaches and mentors the Associate Buyer and Buyer.  The Senior Buyer must have advanced knowledge of purchasing contract terms, RFP process, bid analysis and must be able to lead complex customer focused special projects.

This is an onsite role in our Irving TX facility with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 8AM - 5PM.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?  

  • Purchase goods and services by utilizing the Procurement operation’s processes and technology across Assurant enterprise to meet the needs of the customers
  • Review purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy
  • Develop, implement and follow established Procurement policies, procedures and organization structure
  • Manage suppliers, internal costs, quality and delivery performance
  • Drive continuous improvement on end-to-end aspects of the procurement process
  • Maintain and promote sound relationships with suppliers and the business community
  • Maintain positive relationships and communication with internal customers
  • Demonstrate understanding of market trends and conditions for product changes
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Associate Buyer and Buyer

 
What are the requirements needed for this position?  

  • Bachelor degree in Business or Finance or Associates degree plus a minimum of five (5) years of Procurement experience required
  • Minimum of five years buying and procurement related experience in a corporate environment required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
  • Expert knowledge of purchasing terms, concepts, processes, procedures and contract terms
  • Ability to positively adjust to changing daily demands and work volumes required
  • Superior verbal and written skills with senior level management required
  • Superior telephone and interpersonal skills required
  • Superior judgment, initiative, problem solving, collaboration and teamwork skills required
  • Ability to lead complex Request For Proposal (RFP) projects involving multiple stakeholders

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?  

  • Master’s degree in Business or Finance preferred
  • CPM certification preferred
  • Lawson Procurement system experience preferred

Pay Range

$54,900.00 - $92,000.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience, and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
