Assurant has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Director, Enterprise Financial Planning and Analysis!

Overview of Position

This role will play an integral part in the enterprise financial life cycle, including the planning & forecasting process, the quarter close process, expense management, and overall financial management & reporting for the enterprise.  This role will support and provide direction over the financial life cycle, ensuring overall alignment between our business goals and overall financial targets.  This role will report to VP Finance, Enterprise FP&A.

What will be my responsibilities in this role?

  • Responsible for supporting the enterprise operating plan process which includes coordinating timelines and deliverables across the segment and functional areas, building the enterprise storyline, and developing the presentation for Executive leadership and Board reporting

  • Assist with the quarterly financial management process by working with the segments and key business partners to help drive business results and assist with key messaging for the Enterprise

  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation of analysis for quarterly Audit Committee deliverables, earnings call and provide analytics and insights on results

  • Supports the preparation for presentations on enterprise financial results and forecasts

  • Provides interpretation of financial results against planned performance

  • Reviews financial metrics, recommending enhancements for appropriate profitability metrics and leading indicators for internal and external reporting

  • Leads enterprise expense management, identifying new opportunities for efficiencies, and using expenses to achieve financial objectives

  • Regularly tracks financial performance, highlighting risks and opportunities as they develop, while helping to identify a path to financial success

  • Reviews & understands the presentation of financial information to the market, making recommendations on simplifications, transparency to investors, and key business performance metrics

  • Supports the quarterly earnings process, in partnership with Investor Relations, by recommending outlook guidance & positioning

  • Liaison with Investor Relations, Accounting, Business Finance teams, Enterprise CFO, and Management Committee leaders

  • Provides guidance and support to direct reports, including review of deliverables

Responsibility for work of others

  • Direct management of approximately a 2-person team

Financial Responsibility

  • Assist with the management of the enterprise cost center

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Advance degree preferred, such as MBA, CPA, or CFA

  • 10+ years progressive finance responsibility

  • Proficient use of MS office products, including strong Excel and PowerPoint

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • 10+ years progressive experience

  • Advanced degree preferred, such as master’s degree, CPA, CFA

  • Strong analytical ability

  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written

  • Clarity in telling the financial story, while leveraging data and insights to draw conclusions

  • Presence & leadership, with ambition and drive to learn and grow

  • Experience leading teams of multiple sizes, with a focus on talent development and mentoring

  • Experience balancing multiple demands, while operating in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to lead cross functional enterprise projects in support of finance initiatives

  • Collaborative style, with the ability to lead through a matrix structure

  • Able to think with a forward-looking trajectory understanding cause and effect

  • Previous experience working in M&A or financial modeling is desired
