The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer Europe, the Underwriting Lead drafts and distributes our pricing proposals for pricing requests which includes interpreting and evaluating risk submissions, developing rates and documenting underwriting assumptions. The Underwriting Lead is also responsible for monitoring the performance of our products. You will develop and deliver products across several lines of business that are priced to improve profitable growth and designed to meet client needs.
- Responsible for drafting and distributing pricing proposals for complex pricing requests which includes interpreting and evaluating risks, developing rates, and documenting underwriting assumptions to deliver profitable schemes.
- Monitor and highlight changes or trends to existing schemes from expected underwriting assumptions and recommend corrective action using data, experience, and new ideas to achieve business plan
- Using the internal approval process framework, respond to internal, external, or ad hoc requests for department/product line underwriting input to deliver profitable growth.
- Prepare associated product underwriting implementation system specifications, collaborating with the business to deliver products to market.
- Review relevant elements of policy terms and business contracts to align with pricing proposals, observing regional and regulatory governance and internal approval processes to ensure commercial and customer value.
- Understands department’s role & scope during planning phases of a project and articulates appropriate level of assumed support.
- Act as project manager on standard to complex team projects or development projects, developing scope and requirements for completion.
You Will Have:
- Recognised qualification in one of the following: Mathematics, Insurance, Finance, Economics, Statistics or Risk Management or experience in a numerate/analytical role
- Demonstrated underwriting/pricing experience within general insurance or extended warranty and service products
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and (desirable) MS PowerBi and machine learning tools.
- Able to deliver clear presentations and written documents to key business stakeholders and partners which translate technical topics into concise and commercially focused messages, to ensure clear decision making.
