VP, Global Financial Systems Lead

Overview of Position

This position is a key leadership role in driving the successful execution of our Global Financial Systems program leveraging various components of the Oracle tool set.

This role will have responsibility for working with the global technology, global accounting, and third-party implementation partner to successfully deliver the various Global Financial Systems program in North America and International.
 

This role will be a member of the GFS leadership team and participate in cross-program planning, design, review, and related activities.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?  

  • Work with the program owners to manage all aspects of the end-to-end implementation of the GFS program including, but not limited to ERP, Finance Platform, FCC, EDM, APEX, and Reporting.

  • Provide detailed accounting, system design, and process-related thought leadership to the GFS program

  • Lead efforts to develop, manage, and track an integrated plan that includes all key project related tasks, milestones, deliverables and dependencies. 

  • Partner with program transformation management office, third party implementation partner, and enterprise management office to drive execution, remove blockers, and ensure milestone dates are achieved

  • Leverage skills and experience to foresee potential issues and risks and escalate timely, as appropriate

  • Work with team to prepare weekly status reporting to stakeholders, executive sponsors, executive steering committee, Audit Committee, and others

  • Lead efforts with stakeholder areas to align on requirements, design, testing, deployment, and training

  • Review and approve functional and technical designs, ensuring they meet the business requirements, properly and effectively leverage the system functionality, and avoid customizations.

  • Identify and escalate concerns with designs that may lead to issues during testing or post-implementation.  

  • Ensure build and configuration are performed in accordance with the approved design. Manage scope to the approved body of work.

  • Leverage prior experience to help define the financial systems roadmap and delivery schedule.  Initial focus will be on the core North America deployment.  Once that is complete, additional functionality will be released for North America and the platform will be implemented in International on a region-by-region basis.

  • Develop budgets and forecasts for program components.  Prepare monthly financial analyses and providing commentary of results versus plan.  Manage invoicing and accrual processes.

  • Review contracts, SOWs, and other legal documents. Provide input and recommendations.

  • Review test strategies, plans, and scripts to ensure they provide adequate coverage.

  • Work at a detailed level on specific tasks, deliverables, etc. as needed to meet dates and ensure successful project execution.

  • Ensure project documentation and artifacts are complete, accurate, properly reviewed/approved.

  • Serve as a liaison between the GFS program and Internal/External auditors.  Ensure requests are timely fulfilled.  Lead periodic meetings with auditors to review status, key design items, etc.

  • Lead other projects or prepare other deliverables as assigned

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Financial Acumen

    • Accounting or Finance degree from accredited institution

    • CPA preferred, but not required

  • Project Management

    • Strong project management skills and experience in using waterfall, agile, and hybrid methodology

    • PMP, Scrum, and SAFE certifications a plus

    • Experience in using project management tools such as MS project, Jira, ADO, etc.

  • Technology

    • Experience in implementing the Oracle financial systems platform with a particular focus on Cloud ERP, Cloud EPM (FCC, EDM), OFSAA, and APEX

    • Strong understanding of delivered application functionality and how to best leverage to transform business processes and avoid common pitfalls large projects often encounter

    • Experience with managing systems integrations and custom mapping tools

  • Project Execution

    • Proven track record of managing large-scale, multinational finance platform implementations

    • Experience in working with and managing third-party systems integrators in complex projects

  • Budget Management

    • Experience in preparing budgets and forecasts for multifaceted programs

    • Ability to review costs and analyze trends and variances

  • Key Qualifications

    • 10+ years in leading complex systems projects

    • 10+ years prior process improvement experience

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    • Experienced in leveraging technology to improve processes and controls

    • Experienced in general ledger systems implementation, chart of accounts design, and chart of accounts mapping

    • Strong knowledge of core accounting and planning/forecasting concepts

    • Exceptional data analysis skills to review data, identify anomalies and investigate root cause

    • Effective and efficient in working with remote teams across a number of locations

    • Knowledge of balancing and reconciliation processes

    • Ability to influence with and without direct authority

    • Ability to lead large teams and successfully navigate from working in the details to being able to present to senior executives and the Board of Directors

    • Ability to travel as needed

    • High degree of aptitude in using Microsoft suite of tools with a particular focus on Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Visio

    • Strong proficiency, or ability to quickly learn, data analysis tools such as COGNOS, PowerBI, SQL queries, etc.  

    • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across all levels within the organization
