As the Vice President of our Voluntary Homeowners Insurance and Condo products, you will be responsible for leading the strategy and execution of the product portfolio to achieve both lines of business objectives.  You will plan, direct, and manage efforts to develop and implement Assurant’s Voluntary Homeowners Insurance and optimize profit and growth in the business.  As the VP, of Voluntary Homeowners and Condo, your primary goal is to drive profitable growth and set the line of business strategy for all functions. You will be responsible for building the Homeowner’s product for one of the largest clients at Assurant. This will include strategizing on growth for our existing Condo product.

As the VP, you will work in a matrix management environment with a wide variety of disciplines (Sales, Account Management, Operations, IT, Finance, Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Marketing, Legal, Customer Experience, and Executive Leadership) to deliver core services while maximizing profitability for the business.  You will coach, mentor, develop, manage, and direct a team of over 30 individuals on strategic initiatives, required analysis and reporting needs for clients, and a comprehensive understanding of our expenses and profitability.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?  

  • Establishes current and long-range goals, objectives, operating and financial plans, and policies for the Line of Business

  • Lead ongoing P&L management for Voluntary Homeowners and Condo products.

  • Regular review of progress vs. goals, plan adjustments/forecasts, etc.

  • Develops annual detailed business plan with emphasis on product development, sales, and marketing strategies, and operations

  • Builds leadership team and people capabilities to ensure achievement of short- and long-term goals; alignment with AIZ & Global Housing strategies; and alignment with Key Enablers to foster a culture that ensures employee engagement, growth, and outperformance

  • Provides leadership to ensure daily operations are efficient and meet or exceed client needs

  • Promotes collaboration across business units and functional areas to facilitate the achievement of goals and objectives  

  • Develop, plan for organic and acquired growth, and promote innovation in partnership with other Global Housing line of business leaders

What are the requirements needed for this position?  

  • Bachelor’s degree in business and/or finance

  • 15 years of working experience in multiple businesses and/or functions

  • 10 years of various leadership roles in P& C insurance; including experience of developing and managing Homeowners’ products

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?  

  • Master’s degree in business, finance or a related field

  • Preferred knowledge, skills and experience

  • Strong business and financial acumen; keen understanding of the drivers of profitability, market dynamics and deal structures

  • P&C Actuarial experience

How much should I expect to travel?  

  • Up to 40%
