Compliance Manager

Job Purpose

Collaborate with the Compliance responsible in specific activities connected with the execution of Assurant Compliance Program.

Primary Job Accountabilities/

1.Assist the Compliance Officer in the day to day business operative compliance activities.

2.Ensure compliance by following up with process owners to ensure compliance in key relevant areas to Compliance.

3.Increase employee awareness on Compliance.

4.Keep track of regulatory obligations and work close to process owners to ensure compliance in the following areas:

5.Follow up with process owners to meet due dates to respond official communications and subpoena requests to the commissioner of insurance, consumer protection agency and other government authority.

6.Follow up with process owners to meet hard dates in autocorrection and regularization plans, requests for information and other similar items.

7.File regulatory reports owned by Legal and/or Compliance before due date, includingelectronic filings to the Commissioner of Insurance,the Consumer Protection Agency systems and other regulatory agencies.

8.Follow up compliance with corporate policies and procedures, New Business Process, New Vendor Engagement Process and best practice standards.

9.Draft standard agreements and ensure completeness of documentation in the physic and electronic files of vendors, third party administration and business partners, prior to the effective date to engage in business.

10.Execute the Compliance communication strategy to improve employee awareness.

11.Ensure the Board of Directors and the Executive Board files are updated on a regular basis and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate policies.

12.Coordinate Corporate Governance procedures, including the proper documentation of Executive Board and Corporate Governance Committees.

13.Ensure compliance in existing and changes to existing business processes, new products, and new vendors, and provide advice with regards to privacy, anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing laws and other laws and regulations.

14. Process payments to Vendors hired by legal and Compliance offices.

Basic Qualifications Required - Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Bachelor, Law, Accounting, Management or similar.
  • 5 years of previous experience in Compliance in any kind of financial entities performing risk based monitoring and/or Big four consultancy firms performing gap assessments.
  • Insurance experience is desirable.

Environment/Physical Demands: This position requires incumbents to regularly sit at a desk and operate standard office equipment such as a computer and phone.  Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk, lift, carry and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.  Must be able to talk and hear.  Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
