Our Assurant Canadian team is seeking an Account Executive (AE) in the Burnaby area. The Account Executive will  provide world-class service in the post-sale relationship with clients.  The AE acts as the single point of contact for their unique client by supervising program implementations, maximizing account performance and leveraging Assurant resources to develop effective and profitable client solutions.  This incumbent must be a high-energy, multi-tasker with an extensive knowledge and understanding of industry trends with strong communication and presentation skills.  They must be passionate about client relations and will be an integral part of maintaining and growing our relationship with their dedicated client. 

Primary Job Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Client Relationship Building:

  • Develop and execute a client strategy for the dedicated account  
  • Act as primary point of communication with assigned client. Build and maintain relationships with clients and key personnel.
  • Incorporate knowledge of client’s industry products, services, trends, etc. into day-to-day interactions
  • Escalate and resolve areas of concern as raised by clients

Internal Alignment and Acumen:

  • Serve as a liaison by collaborating with internal resources to meet the needs of the client (e.g. Actuarial, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Business Analysis & Technology)  
  • Keep internal stakeholders informed of changes and updates on ongoing initiatives for the client.
  • Execute necessary contracting. Manage and negotiate contract renewals

    Strategic Planning:

  • Stay current on client’s industry, business objectives, priorities, customers, factors affecting P&L, regulatory issues and their market footprint  
  • Work with client to develop annual plan/goals, set sales and revenue targets.
  • Advise clients on creating profitable processes. Look for cost savings/ expense reduction opportunities 
  • Alert and work with the Business Development team to identify opportunities for further sales within key client

Plan Monitoring and Execution:

  • Review client sales and marketing results, including incentive/promotional campaigns and provide recommended action plans to keep on target
  • Provide regular updates internally and to clients on the progress of strategies and campaigns
  • Develop recommendations to keep execution of plans and strategies on target
  • Monitor performance against contractual service level agreements, flag potential issues and ensure adherence to contract terms
  • Conduct business reviews to ensure clients are satisfied with their products and services and manage follow-up deliverables

Project Management:

  • Coordinate and execute projects on time within budget and within scope
  • Work directly with all stakeholders to define project scope and objectives
  • Document requirements and ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget
  • Coordinate internal and external (client and third parties/vendors) resources for the execution of deliverables
  • Develop a detailed project plan and monitor/track progress to ensure schedule adherence
  • Manage changes to the scope, schedule and costs using defined change management protocols and approval process
  • Prepare frequent reports regarding status of project to deliver to management
  • Report critical issues to management as needed and implement subsequent decisions/changes efficiently to ensure project progress is not impacted 
  • Perform risk management including identifying risk, qualifying & quantifying risk and creating mitigation and contingency plans
  • Monitor performance against contractual service level agreements, flag potential issues and ensure adherence to contract terms

Basic Qualifications Required

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Minimum of 2-3 years account executive/client management experience.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience managing projects.
  • 25% Travel

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Project management experience
  • Proven intermediate skills on Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Project
  • The ability to clearly articulate ideas both verbally and written; excellent presentation skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence clients and gain buy-in
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and issues with little supervisory support
  • Accepts responsibility and is accountable for client’s business objectives
