The Ethics & Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing compliance processes to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role plays a critical part in fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct, while proactively mitigating regulatory, legal, and reputational risks.

This position has direct accountability for compliance activities supporting Assurant’s U.S. Mobile business, including Device Care Center (DCC) operations in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Key responsibilities include risk assessments, third-party due diligence, process improvement, compliance testing and monitoring, issue remediation, training, and internal control oversight.

This is a hybrid role; candidates must be based in the greater Nashville area, with regular on-site presence required at the Mt. Juliet DCC.

This position reports directly to the AVP, Connected Living Compliance.

 

What will my duties and responsibilities be in this job?

Connected Living / Mobile Compliance

  • Partner closely with Connected Living (CL) Compliance leadership to advance and implement the CL Compliance Program, with a focus on localized requirements within the DCC environment. Responsibilities include risk assessments, policy development, process improvement, compliance testing, reporting, monitoring, and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Provide regulatory, ethics, and compliance advisory services, acting as a trusted advisor to employees and leadership—including DCC management and senior executives—on key compliance matters.

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with DCC management and internal stakeholders to support the ongoing development, implementation, and oversight of the CL Mobile compliance program in a pragmatic and effective manner.

  • Serve as the primary Ethics & Compliance liaison, developing a deep understanding of DCC operations, priorities, risks, and challenges.

  • Evaluate and enhance compliance program objectives and deliverables on an ongoing basis.

  • Execute third-party due diligence in partnership with supply chain and trade compliance teams to ensure effective screening and management of Mobile business partners and third parties.

  • Provide practical, solutions-oriented compliance guidance to stakeholders.

  • Identify and escalate risks, issues, and concerns, and support remediation efforts.

  • Support responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations.

  • Maintain oversight of compliance issue tracking, processes, risks, controls, and related metrics aligned to risk appetite and limits.

  • Partner with the business to drive process improvements and implement leading practices.

Ethics

  • Collaborate with Assurant’s Global Ethics Office to support training, investigations, disclosures, and other ethics initiatives tailored to the (Nashville)

    • Assist in investigations related to alleged violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

    • Support the development and delivery of ethics and compliance training programs.

  • Champion a culture of integrity and adherence to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

 

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Legal, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience required.

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in operational compliance, audit, or monitoring functions.

  • At least 2 years of management or leadership experience, including oversight of virtual teams, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage workloads to meet tight deadlines and stakeholder expectations.

  • Proven ability to achieve results through cross-functional collaboration, influence stakeholders, make timely decisions, and effectively navigate trade-offs and conflict resolution.

  • Demonstrated success operating in complex, evolving business environments with ambiguity.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align work with organizational goals.

  • Solutions-oriented mindset with strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Ability to drive execution and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Ability to balance compliance requirements with broader business and organizational objectives.

  • Solid knowledge of compliance regulations, rules, and industry best practices.

  • Track record of incorporating innovative approaches into business processes.

  • Sound judgment and discretion, with the ability to collaborate effectively across DCC and enterprise stakeholders.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Experience in mobile device, logistics, supply chain, transportation, financial services, or insurance industries.

  • Experience with compliance testing and monitoring methodologies, tools, and processes.

  • Experience supporting and/or conducting investigations.

  • Knowledge of strategic planning and reporting concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Demonstrated understanding of compliance risk assessments, systems, and internal controls.

  • Professional compliance certification (e.g., CCEP, LPEC, CRCM) or willingness to obtain.

  • Auditing and monitoring experience preferred.

  • Experience with Power BI or similar analytics tools, including dashboard development and data analysis.

  • Project management experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and compliance risk management systems.

How much should I expect to travel?

  • Approximately 5% travel

What are the working conditions and physical requirements of this job?   

This position requires incumbents to regularly sit at a desk and operate standard office equipment such as a computer and phone.  Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk, lift, carry, and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.  Must be able to talk and hear.  Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Pay Range

$103,800.00 - $173,300.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience, and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
