Biometric Information Notice & Consent
Assurant (and authorized service providers acting on its behalf) will collect, use, and store biometric identifiers and biometric information, such as a scan of a fingerprint, retina or face geometry derived from a live selfie, to verify your identity and help prevent identity fraud or impersonation.
Purpose:
Biometric information is used solely for identity verification, security, and fraud prevention purposes related to recruiting, onboarding, and, where applicable, ongoing employment access verification.
Retention:
Biometric information will be retained only until the purpose for collecting it has been satisfied, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law or contract, after which it will be permanently deleted or destroyed.
No Sale:
Assurant does not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from biometric information.
Disclosure:
Biometric information may be collected by, and will only be shared with, authorized service providers that support identity verification and are contractually required to protect it and use it only for these purposes, or as required by law. In some cases, these service providers will provide you with their own notices and consent forms.
Consent and Refusal:
Where required by law, I understand that I may refuse to consent to the collection of my biometric information or I may later withdraw my consent, and I may contact Assurant at [email protected] or the local Talent Acquisition contact to inquire about potential alternatives to collection of biometric information or with a consent withdrawal request. Unless prohibited by law, I understand that if I do not consent, or if I later withdraw this consent, Assurant may be unable to complete certain identity verification steps required for hiring, onboarding, access to certain systems, or fraud-prevention controls, thereby making me ineligible for initial or ongoing employment.
The Company uses a biometric identity verification process for security purposes. If you are unable to unable to participate in this process due to a medical condition, disability, pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, or a sincerely-held religious belief, you may request an accommodation. We will review requests individually and, where appropriate, provide a reasonable alternative identity verification method that meets security and compliance needs. Please note that not all accommodation requests can be granted; the availability of alternative identity verification methods will depend on the individual circumstances and applicable security and compliance requirements.
