What's the role about?

As a Business Development Director (BDD) at Assurant, you will play a pivotal role in leading and aligning Assurant’s aggressive growth plan across Australia . You will own, build, lead, and launch ‘Win Strategies’ to accelerate and scale the growth of the business with existing and new partners.

The BDD will create and manage a pipeline of new client opportunities for all Connected Living products and services. They will focus on identifying and executing profitable, revenue-generating initiatives. The pipeline of new clients will include but not be limited to; MNO, MVNO, OEM’S, Retail & eCommerce and other LOBs as required. You will create and present clearly defined ‘Win Strategies’ for each opportunity; as well as ensuring all identified opportunities are within our scope for success and Assurant has the right partnerships and operational capabilities to deliver this new business as expected.

Based in either Sydney or Melbourne, and reporting to the Commercial and Sales Director, the role will have ownership for pitches for tenders and RFP, position propositions for development and entanglement with clients, as well as:

  • Responsible for the sustainable growth of current allocated active accounts by increasing profits year over year by continuously developing specific and actionable business development plans.
  • Build, maintain and grow effective client relationships allowing for day-to-day management of the client account and their requirements, organising your time across client stakeholders, functions and store network effectively.
  • Partner with product and marketing teams to develop and manage customer strategies and define differentiated offerings to attract new business and grow existing accounts.
  • Manage relevant RFP processes, bid management and tender initiatives for Australia.
  • Provide consumer, market, and competitor insights to wider leadership team to influence regional strategy.

Does this sound like you?

  • Proven seniority, experience and a successful track record in a similar role.
  • Previous experience in the insurance and/or telco industry will be highly regarded.
  • Sales professional who thrives in high-stakes, fast-paced situations and who enjoys strategic, long-term thinking.
  • Demonstrable experience of driving and achieving growth within large complex accounts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, an ability to convey complex ideas in simple language that connects and inspires, and a good instinct for business.
  • Experience working directly with senior stakeholders/C-suite executives & fostering multi-level relationships.
  • Strong track record of initiating, winning & delivering cross-sell or new business opportunities. 
  • Leadership, business acumen, commercial awareness, networking, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and analytical thinking.
  • Commercially astute with understanding of key P&L drivers.
