Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll lead the forecasting and planning of functional costs, help stakeholders understand performance, risks and opportunities, and support initiatives that improve financial and operational outcomes.

This is a highly collaborative role for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, challenging assumptions and helping teams make better-informed decisions.

What you’ll do

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting for UK functional costs.
  • Analyse financial performance, variances and cost drivers, clearly identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Turn complex financial and operational data into concise reporting, meaningful commentary and actionable business insight.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives, expense management, process improvements and the development of stronger financial controls.
  • Build and maintain financial models, analytical tools and reporting solutions that improve accuracy, visibility and decision-making.
  • Work across Finance to share best practice, improve reporting quality and provide consistent, high-quality support to the business.
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

  • An ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or equivalent relevant finance experience.
  • A strong track record in finance business partnering, FP&A, financial control, commercial finance, strategy, planning or analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial performance management.
  • Experience supporting and influencing business stakeholders through clear financial insight.
  • The ability to analyse large and varied data sets and translate findings into practical recommendations.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, together with experience using financial planning, reporting or analytical tools.
  • Confidence working with ambiguity, setting appropriate assumptions and forming sound commercial conclusions.
  • Strong prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.

Desirable experience

  • Experience within financial services, insurance, software or technology.
  • Knowledge of insurance accounting and financial analysis.
  • Experience using Power BI, TM1, SQL or comparable analytical and planning tools.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled productivity and analytical tools.

What will help you succeed

You’ll be naturally curious, commercially aware and comfortable asking thoughtful questions. You’ll build trusted relationships across the business while providing constructive challenge when it matters.
