Senior Technology Automation Engineer
Job Purpose
The Senior Technology Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, operating, and continuously improving enterprise automation solutions that enable automated service fulfillment, remediation, reporting, and platform operations across Assurant's technology ecosystem.
This role combines software engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, and operational ownership responsibilities. The engineer is accountable for delivering automation capabilities while ensuring the ongoing stability, security, compliance, lifecycle management, and operational excellence of automation platforms, applications, cloud services, and supporting third-party technologies.
The role partners closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, Service Management, Architecture, Risk, Compliance, and vendor teams to reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency, strengthen governance, enhance security, and increase platform reliability. Additionally, the role is responsible for identifying opportunities to leverage AI-assisted automation technologies to improve service delivery, operational effectiveness, and user experience across the enterprise.
This position will be in Bengaluru/Hyderabad at our India location
Working Hours: 3:30 PM IST to 12:30 AM IST
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Automation Engineering & Solution Delivery
Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise automation products and reusable automation components.
- Develop software solutions using C#, Python, PowerShell, Bash, APIs, and cloud-native technologies.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
- Perform peer code reviews and ensure adherence to enterprise development, security, and architectural standards.
- Develop automation solutions for provisioning, remediation, orchestration, reporting, compliance, and service fulfillment processes.
- Build and maintain integrations across enterprise platforms using REST and SOAP APIs.
- Identify and implement AI-assisted automation opportunities
Platform Operations, Lifecycle Management & Governance
- Own operational health, availability, performance, scalability, and reliability of automation platforms and supporting third-party technologies.
- Monitor applications, integrations, cloud services, infrastructure components, and automation workflows.
- Manage platform lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, version management, dependency management, and end-of-life remediation.
- Administer and support Azure cloud services and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments.
- Ensure containerized workloads adhere to enterprise security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Manage vulnerability remediation, security hardening activities, and technical debt reduction initiatives.
- Develop and maintain modernization roadmaps.
- Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and business continuity readiness.
Architecture, COE Participation & Technical Governance
- Participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, and technical governance processes.
- Promote reuse of enterprise automation components, standards, and best practices.
- Contribute to enterprise automation strategy, platform roadmaps, and engineering standards.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance.
Production Support, Risk, Compliance & Operational Excellence
- Provide production support for automation platforms, cloud services, and enterprise integrations from tools in the platform such as Ansible/Tower, APIM, Atlassian Suite, Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, MuleSoft, Octopus, SailPoint, Salesforce, Service Fabric, ServiceNow, SSRS, etc.
- Perform incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Support audit, compliance, regulatory, and risk management activities.
Ensure compliance with security, risk, operational, and technology governance policies. Drafting and maintaining operational procedures and runbooks for managed service team execution.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related STEM discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience across Automation Engineering, DevOps Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
- Experience supporting enterprise production environments and mission-critical platforms.

- Diagnosing application, infrastructure, network, and integration issues across vendor-supported platforms using logs, monitoring, and vendor documentation

- SSL/TLS certificate management and PKI fundamentals
- System hardening, security baselines, vulnerability remediation, and compliance support
- Backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability concepts

What are the preferred requirements for this position?
• Master's degree in related STEM discipline.
• Experience participating in an Automation or Platform Engineering COE.
• Terraform and Terraform Cloud.
• Ansible Automation Platform.
• SailPoint IDM and Okta.IDP
• Experience supporting SOX, SOC, ISO, PCI or similar compliance frameworks.
• Azure certifications.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
